Let's Ride

It turned out to be a beautiful day, even after the chilling rain that kept us in all night. What a perfect day to fly a kite... or ride a bike. The day started off with blowing bubbles in the wind and laughter. The big boys dawned their safety helmets and braved the busy highway, to the semi secluded back roads. The air was fresh and clean, and the towering trees provided shade and channeled the trade winds our way. A few cars stalled our races, but not our fun.

As most boys do, the talk of a bike club buzzed in the air. I wonder what name they would come up with, but they didn't get that far. As the races grew more exciting, the burst of energy they started out with was slowly diminishing. Prizes of chips and candy, and starter position on the PlayStation beckoned then to stay.

Alas, the hunger distracted them from their fun and games, and it was about time to charge up the last hill. We would have to defeat the highway again. This time a little busier that before. The day had peaked, and everyone was up now. When we got to the intersection, we were faced with a semi, an old lady, and some hunting dogs that didn't want us to get away. The nice gentlemen in the red beamer stopped traffic so the little guys could pass safely. What a nice guy.

you'd never get on."
