Let's Ride

It turned out to be a beautiful day, even after the chilling rain that kept us in all night. What a perfect day to fly a kite... or ride a bike. The day started off with blowing bubbles in the wind and laughter. The big boys dawned their safety helmets and braved the busy highway, to the semi secluded back roads. The air was fresh and clean, and the towering trees provided shade and channeled the trade winds our way. A few cars stalled our races, but not our fun.

As most boys do, the talk of a bike club buzzed in the air. I wonder what name they would come up with, but they didn't get that far. As the races grew more exciting, the burst of energy they started out with was slowly diminishing. Prizes of chips and candy, and starter position on the PlayStation beckoned then to stay.

Alas, the hunger distracted them from their fun and games, and it was about time to charge up the last hill. We would have to defeat the highway again. This time a little busier that before. The day had peaked, and everyone was up now. When we got to the intersection, we were faced with a semi, an old lady, and some hunting dogs that didn't want us to get away. The nice gentlemen in the red beamer stopped traffic so the little guys could pass safely. What a nice guy.

you'd never get on."

A Very Sad Day

I cant believe that my camera is gone. My husband bought it for me as a surprise... probably the best surprise Ive ever gotten. I am a trigger happy lunatic, and when my ole faithful digital camera went the way of the dinosaur, I was devastated. I made do with a small hand held video camera that took stills, but the picture quality was far from what I was use to... but I'm a lunatic remember. So when a new Olympus... waterproof, shatter-proof camera had my name on it... I was beyond thrilled. It of course never left my side... that is until today. I took it out to take pictures of the young'ns and put it down beside me... only to walk away from my little piece of happiness. Along with at least a hundred pictures, which I cherished each and every one. As soon as I realized what I had done, I made a mad dash down the hill and back to the place I had lost my beloved. Much to my disappointment, but not surprise, the little black case was gone. I asked the ice cream man if anyone had turned it in... of course not. I went into the mini-mart, the answer echoed the first. My heart sank to the pit of my stomach. Whoever has it, has taken it home with them. All my wonderful memories, all my precious moments... gone. The only sliver of hope I have is that whoever picked it up, recognized me or someone in the photograph, and they are planning to get it back to me. Now days, I wont hold my breath. But I still have that sliver of hope, because without hope, what do we have left? I pray to God that my camera finds it way back to me... and if not, I release it whom ever has deemed today their lucky day, because they need it more than I do. If that's true... then that is an awful lot. I didn't get to spent a whole lot of time getting acquainted with my dear friend, but all the memories that we shared, will not be forgotten. If you love something, let it go... if it doesn't come back, it was never meant to be.

postsecret.com

I love when Sunday Secrets are posted late Saturday night. I feel like Ive gotten a sneak preview to something that thousands of people are waiting to wake up to. Of course I am secretly looking for my very own secret to be displayed anonymously on the screen. One of the fortunate 20, hand picked and scanned into Frank Warrens computer. I wonder if he uploads them, then picks them at random... or if there is a method to his madness. I agree... other's secrets have help me. Helped me realize that I am not alone in this great big world. Not that I pee in the shower or anything. Thou, I have felt lonely. I have shared in the heartbreak. Still, it never ceases to amaze me that there are some really talented/creative people out there. I enjoy seeing what like minds come up with. So many people share the same or similar secret in drastically different ways. It just goes to show that everyone has their own point of view. Seeing your secret thru someone else's eyes is the bases of its (postsecret.com) appeal.

Baking is One of Her Many Talents.

I always want to be in the kitchen when my sister is baking something. There is this look on her face that tells you shes enjoying herself. With every ingredient, every pinch of salt, I swear there is an orchestra playing in her head and she is the conductor. Her whisk is her wand, and whole wheat flour her percussion section.

Healthy ingredients are the new chocolate chips and the whole family eagerly awaits the chime of the timer. The smells that fill the entire house are the intermission to the grand finale.

The recipe book where she reads her music notes are simple and exciting at the same time. Talented and dedicated, she knows how to reach the sweet tooth.

What a lot we lost when we stopped writing letters. You can't reread a phone call. ~Liz Carpente

There still is nothing nicer than getting love letters in the mail. I find myself hanging on every line. Liz was right, you cant re-read a phone call, or Skype these days. Don't get me wrong, I love to hear his voice on the other end of the line, or see his smiling face on the other end of the web cam... but letters I get to hang on to forever. When I'm down and out, I can go back and read those loving words again and know that someone out there loves me. Someone 5000 miles away is thinking of me. If that's not a great feeling, I don't know what is.

Hey there mister postman, is there a letter in your bag for me?

Borrowed, not stolen, from fellow bloggers...

I don’t just want your heart. I want your flesh, your skin and blood and bones, your voice, your thoughts, your pulse —and most of all, your fingerprints, everywhere.
